Recipe Ingredients
- 200g glace cherries
- 275g self raising flour
- 75g ground almonds
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 225g soft margarine
- 225g caster sugar
- 4 eggs
Recipe Instructions
1. Pre heat oven to 160C/Gas 3.
2. Lightly grease and base line a 20 cm deep round cake tin.
3. Quarter each cherry, put into a sieve and rinse under running water. Drain well then dry thoroughly on kitchen paper.
4. Measure all remaining ingredients into a large bowl and beat well for 1 minute.
5. Lightly fold in the cherries.
6. Turn into the prepared tin and level.
7. Bake in the pre heated oven for about an hour and a half to an hour and three quarters, or until a skewer inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean.
8. Leave the cake to cool in the tin for about 10 minutes then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completeley.
